Suzie van Opdorp
Suzie van Opdorp leads Labor’s Ward 1 team. She was elected as a Blue Mountains City Councillor in 2021. She understands the issues that affect Ward 1 residents having lived and worked in the area since 1983.
Since being elected Suzie has been a strong advocate for Ward 1 residents. She has worked with local residents to achieve the best outcomes including the Katoomba Golf Course precinct plan, the dog off leash strategy especially in Katoomba and Leura and the reopening of Cliff Drive.

She values our natural and built environments and has fostered positive relationships with local Aboriginal people whose friendship she values.
Suzie chairs the Mayor’s Domestic and Family Violence Reference Group which brings together a range of local services and community members to develop local strategies to address family violence. She also chairs BMCC’s Heritage Advisory Committee and the East Timor Hatobuilico Committee.
If re-elected she will continue to work hard for Ward 1 residents advocating for the unique issues and concerns of each of the Ward 1 villages from Leura to Mount Tomah/Berambing.
